How to crush 2019!

Happy New Year!!

How was your 2018? Good? Bad? Did you achieve all your goals? Did your life change in any way?

If you had a great 2018, I’m happy for you! If your 2018 was not so good don’t worry, it is not something to worry about anymore. It is gone, forever. Now it is time to focus on the present and build your future, which means putting all your attention to 2019.

In my opinion, one of the best things we can do for ourselves when a new year starts, is trying to make of that new year a better year than the previous one. It won’t always be better, cause life happens to all of us and there are some factors of our lives that we cannot control, but still we should try it, since whether we have a great year or not depends mostly on us.

So, in order to help you make your 2019 way better than your 2018, here are a few things that I want you to do this year (these do not follow any specific order, they are all equally important):

  • Love yourself no matter what. Not going to over talk about this. There is too much negativity, criticism, bullsh*t and judgement in today’s era. Avoid all of that and just love yourself NO MATTER WHAT!!

  • Cut the excuses. Excuses bring 0 results, so stop making them and start taking action.

  • Don’t let negativity affect you. I know this one is a hard one, since in today’s world there is negativity literally everywhere. But I don’t care. Don’t ever let the negativity surrounding you hold you back, give up on or goals or second guess your dreams. Fight it and don’t let it have an impact on you.

  • Don’t listen to the haters/naysayers. This one is a hard one too, cause a lot of the times some of the naysayers are some of our family members. They may do it to protect us (which is something we should appreciate, since it shows they worry about us) or not. But in any case, never let anyone, family member or not, hold you back. As Will Smith said in “The pursuit of happiness”: “You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People can't do something' themselves, they wanna tell you you can't do it. If you want something', go get it. Period.”

  • Stay true to yourself. This is directly related with the previous point. It doesn’t matter what happens in your life, what kind of shit you have to deal with, what type of people you face in your life…always stay true to yourself and your goals no matter what.

  • Take care of yourself emotionally. A few days ago, I saw a quote on Instagram that said, “You can go to the gym, drink your water and take your vitamins, but if you don’t deal with the shit going on in your heart and head you’re still going to be unhealthy.” I don’t think there is much to add here…

  • If you say you are going to do something, mean it. “Diet starts next Monday”, “I’ll quit smoking next month”, “I’ll start exercising next week” blah blah blah… first of all, why wait until X day when you could start right away. And second of all, we both know most of the times you don’t really mean it when you say it… that’s why you have been trying to lose weight for the past 5 years without any success. This is over. This year you are going to take action, this year you are going to set a plan and execute. If for whatever reason the plan stops working or circumstances change, you are going to change the plan, not the goal.

  • Last but definitely not least, you are going to be relentless in the pursuit of your goals. “I don’t care what it will take, I don’t care how much it will cost, I don’t care how much time it will take me to get there, I have a goal and I am going to achieve it.” Say that to yourself out laud, twice a day: first thing in the morning and at bed at night. Trust me, this one is more powerful than you think.

Not going to go on and on today, I just wanted to really wish you, from the bottom of my heart, all the best for this 2019. Today is the first page of a brand-new book containing 365 blank pages and you are the author. Make sure you write a good one.
